Down in a hole – Psalms 9:15

The nations have sunk down in the pit which they have made; In the net which they hid, their own foot has been caught.

The nations have sunk down in the pit which they have made; In the net which they hid, their own foot has been caught.

~ Psalms 9:15

A lot of us have gotten ourselves into a hole that we have dug through our own sins. This could be in our finances, relationships, health, and so on. In 1st Samuel 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He also has rejected you from being king. God rejected Saul as king because he did not kill all the Amalekites and their cattle but spared the king and the best of the cattle like God told him to thru the prophet Samuel.”

Exodus 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. So The Word “Jesus” tells us that disobedience is like witchcraft & suffer not a witch to live. Wherever we are disobedient in our lives we will suffer and eventually die an ugly death. If you waste your money that God gave you, for example if you just give away your money to people without God telling you to, then He can and will not bless you. In the New Testament Jesus never spoke once about tithing (this is for another lesson), He did say take care of the widow, the needy, and the homeless on many occasions.

1st Timothy 5:34 Honor widows who are truly widows. But if a widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show godliness to their own household and to make some return to their parents, for this is pleasing in the sight of God. So if you give to the widow without first allowing her children or grandchildren to help her then simply you have disobeyed The Word of God “Jesus” and you will suffer for said sin.

Now if you have dug yourself a hole let\’s say in your finances for example, and at the same time God tells you to help someone such as a widow. However, you have been disobedient and have very little or no money, how then can you help them. You first must get yourself out of the hole both financially and spiritually. Let\’s say you get yourself well “financially,” and so you try to throw a rope down into the hole where the widow is, without God telling you to do so, and then the widow pulls you back into the hole with her. Then you are no better off than when you started.

Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. If we simply listen to God & thru obedience tie our rope to The Rock “God” He will not allow us to be pulled back in and then he will bless us in our finances. God knows I have dug many holes for myself in the 18 years I have been a christian. I have lost much thru sin but have wised up and repented and God was merciful each time. All is not lost just tie your rope to The Rock “God” & be still and wait on The Lord He shall & will guide you. Amen & shalom.
