In December 2002, I became a Christian because I could not get away from God. God had been calling me for 35 years, but I kept rejecting His Son, Jesus. At the time, I was in the music industry and I loved women, the fame, money, etc. But everyone around me, it seemed, was becoming a Christian. They did not judge me but simply told me of their faith, unlike my stepfather who constantly preached to my brother and me all the time when he was home. So, I resented someone pushing their faith on me.
One of the first verses God showed me was Matthew 23:8, “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers.” Jesus spoke to me in my spirit and told me, “You do not need man to teach you; I will teach you.” And He did teach me, like in Galatians 1:1, “Paul, an apostle—sent not from men nor by a man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead.” If you are in a church that calls the elders ‘teachers’, it is wrong for you should only call Christ Jesus ‘Teacher.’
In Matthew 23:9, “And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and He is in heaven.” So, do not call a minister in a church ‘father’; that is a sin as well. I know this may offend you Catholics out there, but it is not my intention; I am only trying to keep you from sinning. I have a whole sermon on Revelations 17 and its connection to the Catholic Church; you can find it on the KRK Church website.
Paul says in Galatians 1:14-17, “I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers. But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by His grace, was pleased to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, my immediate response was not to consult any human being. I did not go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before I was, but I went into Arabia. Later I returned to Damascus.” So, I was not appointed by a man or a church but by God Himself.
I know a lot of ministers that are in it for the money, fame, etc. Some have truly lost their way and have been overcome by their flesh. Every minister struggles in the flesh; I am no different, as is everyone. And when you fall, do not let the devil tell you that you are not good enough. This is a lie of the devil. When Jesus was lifted up on the Cross, our sins were defeated in the past, present, and future. The sting of hell will not hurt us anymore, and the law of Moses was done away with for good. The law brought sin and death into our lives, and Jesus brought Life, forgiveness, Grace, Love, and Mercy.
In the going-on 18 years I have been a minister, God has given me businesses, a new home, cars, etc. And He has taken everything away as well to teach me to trust and love Him only. Now, God has given me ten times back what He took from at this time. But serving God is not about that to me; I am in ministry because, first and foremost, it is about my love for Christ Jesus and wanting to obey His Will.
Listen, when God speaks to you, it is subtle like your conscience speaking to you. And how do you get to know someone if you do not spend time with them? So, you have to be still and wait on the Lord, and listen to that subtle voice in your head. Take time for God, and when you pray, He will take time for you.
Would you rather be told by man or by your Maker what and whom you shall be? In Jeremiah 1:5, it says, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” God formed you to be exactly what He wanted you to be, and if you ask Him, He will show you what that is. God even sent me a Prophetess from Atlanta, GA to tell me I was a prophet, so I had to pray about it, and God told me I was a prophet. Eventually, the prophetess from Atlanta, GA became my covering.
As a young Christian, God will give you a covering or a mentor like the prophet Elijah was to the prophet Elisha in 2nd Kings 2. Now Elisha asked for a double portion of Elijah’s anointing and refused to leave him until he got it, and he did get it! In Matthew 7:7, it says, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” So, with a pure heart and a pure mind, only seeking to do the will of The Father, God will show you who you are and give you the desires of your heart.
Now, one last thing, I know myself, and I love women, but I did not want to sin against God. So I asked Him for a wife for ten years, and He gave me a great one. But it did not happen overnight, so when I met her, I did not take her for granted. Do not cease to pray and thank God in advance for all He will give you, and bless you, and your cup shall overflow, my friends.
